Alice was born in Boise, Idaho, on 21 March 1925, to Juan and Regina Bastida.  Her parents were both immigrants from the Basque country, and at one time or another, operated a few boarding houses in Boise and Nampa.

Alice graduated from Nampa High School, and got her teaching certificate from the University of Idaho.  She taught in Twin Falls before marrying J. Robert Tullis, and raising her 7 children.

Alice discusses her early life in Boise, her parents' efforts to raise a family and run a business during the Depression, and her and her family's involvement in the Boise Basque community today.
