Carmen recalls meeting her husband Sabino Goitiandia in Spain, and flying to Idaho to marry him in Boise a few years later.  It took her a while to adjust to life in America--for one thing, the houses were all so small!  But adjust she did, and very well, finding a job cleaning houses, learning to speak English, and raising her own family.  She even learned how to drive early on so that she could take her son and daughter to their activities!

Participating in the Idaho Basque community gives Carmen a great deal of pleasure, and she and Sabino can often be found at the Basque Center in Boise, at Basque picnics, and helping out friends who don't speak English.  She has not decided whether or not to become a US citizen, and still enjoys traveling to the Basque country to visit family and friends.
