Tony Arrubarrena

Tony was born in Pedernales, Bizkaia on 12 December 1931.  One of three children, his youth revolved around school, farm work, and other odd jobs around the village.  He was drafted into the Spanish military after he finished his formal education.

Tony came to the United States in 1955 to work for a sheep company with his uncle.  After 4 years, he married Victoria Oleaga, his longtime girlfriend from home, and worked in other areas.  He remembers the Basque community in Boise and gives details on what it means to make a new life in the United States.

Tony is very proud of his heritage and shares his thoughts on the Basque country as it changes before his eyes.
